The Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) endeavors to attain the following:

  • Produce through research and development, advanced Filipino eco-friendly textile technologies engineered to be "smart" (reactive) textiles and "intelligent" (pre-programmed and adaptive) textiles in answer to the changing needs of the textile and allied industries;
  • Introduce novel ways in the utilization of indigenous fibers, filaments and yarns to produce innovative textile-based products to assist the expanding industries it now serves;
  • Promote the use of locally-produced fabrics for the uniforms and other clothing requirements of government officials and employees pursuant to Republic Act 9242 through the continued development of indigenous raw materials for textiles in order to boost the agrcultural and industrial sectors;
  • Provide scientific and technological support to the textile and allied industries to assist them in enhancing productivity and to attain global competitiveness in the local and foreign markets;
  • Establish textile-based industries in the countryside through the development of technologies taking into consideration available local materials in support of the poverty alleviation program of the government.
